Professor Maurits van Rooijen is Chief Executive for Academic Affairs at Global University Systems (GUS). He is also the President of the University of Europe for Applied Sciences (UE), Germany and President of UE Dubai. Before the launch of GUS, he was CEO/Rector Magnificus of Nyenrode University, in the Netherlands, and prior to that Executive Vice President, University of Westminster, London, acting VP at Victoria University Melbourne, VP (International) at Leiden University in the Netherlands. He also held positions at the Erasmus University Rotterdam and Utrecht University. Prof Maurits started his academic career at his alma mater Utrecht University with pioneering work in sustainable urbanisation. He was visiting professor at universities around the globe. He has held leadership positions with international organisations including the World Association for Cooperative and Experiential Education and, the Compostela Group of Universities. He has received various international awards such as the Constance Meldrum Prize for Vision and Leadership in International Education (EAIE) and the golden insignia of the Universidad de Santiago de Compostela.

Sergei Gorlatch is Full Professor of Computer Science at the University of Muenster (Germany) since 2003. Earlier he was Associate Professor at the Technical University of Berlin, Assistant Professor at the University of Passau, and Humboldt Research Fellow at the Technical University of Munich, all in Germany. Prof. Gorlatch has more than 200 peer-reviewed publications in renowned international books, journals and conferences. He was principal investigator in several international research and development projects in the field of software for parallel, distributed, Grid and Cloud systems, machine learning, and networking, funded by the European Community and by German national bodies.
